An EASY Pendant Light Update

This is by far THE EASIEST update I have made to our house since we moved in.  We bought a house that was custom built by someone who unfortunately could never move in.  So while there were some very unique and good things about the house, there were also some not so great , obvious short cuts that the builder took to complete it.  One of the most obvious being the lighting!!!  The cheap light fixtures that came with this house drive me insane.  I have almost finished replacing each one of them.  The pendant lights over our kitchen bar were the first to be updated!  The original shade was a frosted, yellow, glass bell shape....

I liked the color of the existing fixture, just not the shade.  So, instead of buying a new fixture, I replaced the ugly shade with a small, linen lamp shade from Target! The shade I used does not have a harp, so to attach it to the fixture, I just screwed the light bulb in and allowed the round metal piece in the center to rest on the light bulb....

This is the updated fixture....

It was really that simple!  After switching out the shades, I remember looking at light fixtures in a magazine and saw some pendant lights that looked exactly like this for $129!  I paid $12.99 for each shade and had a brand new light fixture without having to install anything!

Well that's it for today.  I'll be back tomorrow with some Thanksgiving Table place settings.

Remember, when life hands you lemons, turn them into something lovely!
