Sneak Peak Of The Nursery

This project is by far the nearest and dearest to my heart of all the home decor projects I've EVER done!!!  In this post I wanted to show you a few pictures of our baby's nursery and then I will come back later in the week with a 3 part post about the details that went into it.  (i.e. painting lamps, mirrors, shelves, a leather giraffe, turning a plant stand into a book shelf, etc!)  I have to preface by saying, it's every expectant mothers dream to decorate the nursery in preparation for her baby to arrive.  I had been looking forward to this day since I was a little girl, but unfortunately when the day arrived, I was feeling SO BAD that wasn't able to do very much to fulfill this dream.  I cried and prayed and cried prayed some more about how I was going to get through my pregnancy and be able to do the things I needed to do in order to be ready for a new baby.  That's when I had to pull myself out of an emotional "pit" and realize how blessed I was! To even be pregnant was just such an amazing gift from God and to have the GREATEST friends around me that I could lean on during times of trouble moved me to tears over and over again!  Thank you to ALL of you who brought us meals, called to check on me and the baby, came to the house to keep me company, spent the night with me when my husband was out of town, did my grocery shopping, ran errands for me, helped with laundry, etc. etc. etc.  YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!  In particular, I would like to dedicate this post to 4 incredible people...

The first person is a dear, dear friend, we'll call her Mrs. S, who came to my house twice a week just to help me with anything I needed.  There was NOTHING she wouldn't and didn't do.  She would selflessly walk in the door after a hard day of work and say "what do you need me to do today?"  She grocery shopped, cooked, organized, moved furniture, painted, drove me to doctors appointments, kept me company...the list could go on forever!  Without her, half of this would not have been possible!!!!!

The second person, my best friend, Margo who checked on me regularly, came in to help me with the nursery, took me to get a maternity message, brought me lunch, cooked us meals, hosted a baby shower, and made a BIG Target run for us to make sure we had everything we needed for the baby to arrive.  Without her, I would be lost!

The third person, we'll call her B, was my "Hobby Lobby runner"!  She knew my love for decorating and also knew that I could barely leave the house so she kindly went to Hobby Lobby, literally a few times a month, for about 4 1/2 months to buy the things I so desperately wanted to put in the nursery!  Without her, there would be no happy decorative touches!

Last but CERTAINLY not least, my wonderful, caring, adoring husband!  Where do I even begin?!?  Well, I'll start from the beginning.  When we first learned of the health problems I was having (around 4 months gestation) and that I would need to go on disability from work in order to take care of myself and that my husband was going to have to take over ALL of the household responsibilities (cooking, laundry, grocery shopping, dishes, errands, etc) PLUS drive me to all of my doctors appointments, he wasn't a happy camper to say the least!!!  But, after a lot of praying and once again realizing how blessed we were to even be having a baby, we came together, and I was able to rely on him TREMENDOUSLY!!!!  Neither of us will ever forget this past Christmas for the rest of our lives.  We were 1 month away from the new arrival of our first child and unable to travel for the holidays.  A little bummed that we would be alone for Christmas, (we've never stayed home for Christmas, we've always traveled to see family!), my husband put together the most amazing Christmas lunch I have ever had!!!!!  So, on Christmas day, we stayed in our pajamas, ate a TON of delicious food (I must have eaten the entire ham to myself, for real) and put together the baby's nursery!!!!!!!!  (I say "we", I sat in a chair that felt like it was moving and pointed to things (that looked like they were moving but weren't) and told him where to hang them and what to do and he did it ALL!)  When we were done, I stepped back to look, with tears in my eyes, and we both just knew it was perfect!!!!!!  We were ready!  As bad as I felt at that time, I was SOOO excited and happy and overwhelmed with joy to see the nursery had come together just as I had imagined it, and I had physically, barely done anything from start to finish!  Because of my amazing friends and husband, we were able to turn a lemon of a situation into something absolutely LOVELY!!!!!  I hope you enjoy these pictures of the nursery as much as I do....

I'll be back later in the week with a 3 part post about all the details of the nursery!
Remember, when life hands you lemons, turn them into something lovely!
