Decorative Books

A few weeks ago I did a post about using some very old, not so traditional windows as wall decor in our living room.  If you missed that post, check it out here.  Anyway, in a few of the pictures I showed some decorative books that I have sitting on the ledges of these windows in our living room and off to the side of our kitchen.  I got a few responses saying how much people liked the books so I decided to do a separate post about them today.  I found these books at Goodwill for $1.99 a piece!

First, I painted them with a layer of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in French Linen.  After the first layer was completely dry, I painted them with a second coat because the first coat didn't provide enough coverage.  Then I used some Liquid Leaf from Hobby Lobby in Silver and Classic Gold to paint the spines.  (this is the same metallic paint I used to paint my ottoman in front of the fireplace. If you missed that project, you can read about it here.)

Here is a picture of the finished product...

After I got done with these, I had a few requests to make some more, so I did and got a little carried away...

These were actually really fun and easy to make!  They are great for giving that extra height you need under a lamp, picture frame, or to style/fill up a china cabinet or book shelf!  Email me or message me on Instagram if you are interested.  @lemonstolovelys  OR lemonstolovelys@gmail.com
I'm thinking about making a few more as Christmas gifts for friends!?!

I hope to be back next week with an easy Christmas craft, some holiday drinks, and holiday party ideas!
Remember, when life hands you lemons, turn them into something lovely!
