One Last Furniture Makeover Project for 2014

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas!  We sure did!  I took a few days off from blogging to spend time with family and catch up on sleep!  ( I forgot how great naps can be!!!)

I wanted to share with you one last furniture project for the year that I did for my MIL at our hunting camp.  (In Louisiana we call them "camps".  Being from Texas, I had to get use to this.  In Texas we called them "leases", "lake houses", "farms".  Same thing, we are not actually "camping", we just call the house in the middle of the woods a "camp".)  Anyways, so my in laws recently moved and redecorated and this piece use to be in there old kitchen...

It's a nice piece of furniture with lots of drawers and very versatile, but had a 90's looking paint job!  It is now at the camp and comes in handy for extra storage.  I painted it over Thanksgiving with some Annie Sloan Chalk Paint and changed out the hardware on it.  Here is the finished product... (the lighting is not great at the camp so the photos aren't the best)

I painted this piece with 2 coats of Graphite by ASCP for a couple of reasons.  One, I needed something that was going to thoroughly cover the existing paint and hide dings and scratches.  Two, I already had a full can of it so I thought why not!?  Three, it matched the touches of dark blue in the dining room chairs right next to where this piece sits, perfectly!  The knobs are from Hobby Lobby.  They were half off of $4.99.  I loved the color and texture of these burlap knobs (especially for the camp!) so I used some high grit sand paper to scuff up the edges of each drawer to match them.  You can see this detail a little better in some of the close ups above.  After the paint dried, I sealed it with 3 coats of Endurance Finish by CeCe Caldwell's.  I decided against wax because I needed something more durable.
And that's it for my furniture makeovers of 2014.

I'm super excited about next years projects!!!  I have a list of blog posts a mile long already for 2015!

Remember, when life hands you lemons, turn them into something lovely!
